Donald Trump to Appear on U.S. Dollar Signatures
New U.S. banknotes will include the signature of President Donald Trump placed alongside the signature of the treasury secretary.
Planned inscription changes
For the first time, a sitting president's signature will appear on newly issued U.S. banknotes, with the overall design left intact.
At the same time, the treasurer’s signature will be removed, ending a practice that had been in place for 165 years since 1861.
Implementation and timing
Details on when the revised notes will enter circulation have not been provided by authorities, and no specific timetable was announced.
The Treasury and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing are responsible for production and technical updates to currency inscriptions, and will oversee the change.
Historical note
The removal of the treasurer’s signature marks an administrative adjustment to longstanding currency inscription practices, affecting future print runs of U.S. paper money.
