Arthur Hayes to Lead Flop Labs, Announces FLOP Token
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, said he will head Flop Labs and revealed plans for a native token to power autonomous AI agents.
Project goals
Flop Labs is building Flop Network to enable AI agents to transact for compute, memory storage, and peer-to-peer interactions using a single token.
The team envisions an economy where software agents autonomously purchase resources, coordinate tasks, and compensate providers without human mediation.
Network roles and incentives
- Miners will supply computational capacity to the network and receive FLOP as compensation for executed workloads.
- Validators will verify completed tasks, maintain integrity, and provide persistent memory storage for agents in exchange for rewards.
The model aims to align resource provision with agent demand, creating market-driven pricing and settlement for AI-powered services.
Token distribution and timeline
Hayes stated the launch will proceed without a presale or venture capital allocations, according to his announcement about Flop Labs’ governance approach.
The FLOP token drop is scheduled for Q4 2026, with a full network launch planned for Q1 2027. Detailed tokenomics have not yet been published by the team.
Outlook
Flop Labs positions itself at the intersection of decentralized infrastructure and autonomous AI commerce, focusing on mechanisms to monetize compute and storage.
Further technical documentation and economic parameters are expected before the token drop and network deployment early next year.
