Altcoin Market Gains $215 Billion After Trump Remarks
Statements by Donald Trump coincided with a rapid altcoin rally, adding $215 billion in market value across three days, according to CryptoQuant.
Market movement and scope
Between 19 and 22 August, the combined capitalization of altcoins rose by more than 24%, driven mainly by mid and small-cap tokens.
The indicator Total2, which measures the crypto market excluding bitcoin, returned above $1 trillion, marking a notable shift in capital flows.
Technical signals
CryptoQuant analysts note that the proportion of altcoins trading above their 200-day moving average climbed to 56%, compared with roughly 15–20% previously.
Such a rise in moving-average participation is interpreted by the firm as a sign of changing market regime toward broader risk appetite among crypto investors.
Analysts’ caution
At the same time, CryptoQuant warns that the market has entered an overbought zone, increasing the likelihood of a short-term consolidation before any further advance.
Analysts expect potential pauses in price action as participants digest rapid gains and reassess positioning amid higher volatility.
