Ukraine imposes ten-year sanctions on five cryptocurrency platforms
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky enacted sanctions lasting 10 years against five cryptocurrency platforms on grounds of aiding sanctions evasion. Authorities said the measures target companies and individuals who help Russia circumvent financial restrictions.
Sanctions details
The package requires blocking the affected platforms’ websites and analogous domains inside Ukraine, together with restrictions on access to specified Telegram channels named in the decree. The document does not include a separate freeze of the five services’ assets and limits measures to access and communication controls.
Targets and jurisdictions
The decree lists the following platforms by name and notes their jurisdictions of registration:
- RAPIRA — registered in Georgia
- ABCEX — registered in El Salvador
- Aifory Pro — registered on the Marshall Islands
- WhiteBird — registered in Belarus
- MarketCoin.iо — registered in Thailand
Broader package
The sanctions package covers 27 companies and 28 individuals, and explicitly references representatives linked to the shadow banking network A7. Officials framed the moves as an effort to disrupt channels used to facilitate the circumvention of financial sanctions imposed on Russia.
