Bima launches interest-free crypto loans with capped upside
Bima has introduced an interest-free loan product secured by crypto on Base, BNB Chain and Ethereum, available now to users.
Borrowers may obtain up to 50% of eligible collateral value for terms of one month or one year, before platform fees.
Structure of the loan
Under the new format, lenders replace periodic interest with a pre-agreed cap on the collateral’s upside, which is used to repay the facility.
- Collateralization: up to 50% of assessed collateral value for chosen term lengths.
- Example: pledge assets worth $10,000 and borrow $5,000, minus applicable fees.
- Fees: platform and transaction fees apply and are deducted separately from the principal amount.
Operational mechanics and settlement
During the loan period, a decline in the collateral price does not trigger liquidation events or margin calls under the stated mechanism.
At maturity, the borrower must repay the principal and settle the option positions that underpin the payoff structure of the product.
Risks and counterparty considerations
The design removes ongoing margin requirements but does not eliminate credit risk; the borrower still faces the risk of default on repayment obligations.
Counterparty and protocol risks persist because settlements depend on the proper execution of options and the solvency of involved parties.
