OpenAI enables advertising in ChatGPT for Ukraine businesses
OpenAI has expanded access to its ChatGPT advertising platform to include Ukraine, making contextual ads available to local businesses immediately.
Rollout and scale
The company initially opened access in 26 countries, including Ukraine, and now the advertising service covers 89 countries worldwide.
According to OpenAI, in eight months campaigns were launched by more than 100,000 advertisers through the platform.
How contextual ads appear
The main feature positions advertisements alongside conversational context when users compare products, choose services, or plan travel itineraries in the chat interface.
This format lets businesses present offers at the moment of decision, aiming to reach potential customers during active consideration of options.
Availability by subscription tier
Ads will be displayed only to users on the Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain without advertising.
Privacy and content control
According to OpenAI, advertisers do not receive access to users’ private conversations, and paid placements do not influence ChatGPT’s generated answers.
The company says targeting relies on conversational context rather than exposure to individual chat transcripts or private message content.
Implications for businesses
For advertisers, the platform offers a channel to reach users during active decision-making, potentially increasing relevance compared with broader display formats.
At the same time, OpenAI emphasizes limits on data access and maintains that ad placements will not change the model’s response behavior.
